What is Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

Sauvignon Blanc wines are produced in a range of regions including Central Victoria, Yarra Valley, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Margaret River and Tasmania. The wines of Margaret River region are generally more towards the tropical fruit end of the spectrum with grassy, spicy, gooseberry overtones – fuller styles, but still crisp and fresh on the pallet.

The Semillon variety is a fairly full bodied wine and tends to be low in acidity. Most Semillon is blended. Semillon has a soft and subtle flavour on the palate. Semillon can come in both a sweet or dry variety and the dry age very well and often reach their peak after 10 years in the bottle.

Wines from Western Australia are usually vibrantly flavoured, often grassy and lemony with a higher alcohol, fresh acidity and sometimes a subtle oak and barrel fermentation influence.

When these two varieties are blended together it is a marriage made in heaven.
