The wine is very pale with a greenish hue, beautiful aromas of tropical and citrus fruits. The palate is incredibly fresh and zesty, with flavours of orange blossom and apples. I was very lucky to recently do a wine buying trip to Tasmania and was blown away by all the wines I tasted. After much negotiation I have finally got my hands on this magnificent Sauvignon Blanc 2018 from a beautiful small family winery located in the heart of the Coat River Valley. The hospitality of the beautiful couple that own this winery was amazing and I am very happy they agreed to supply us some of this wine. The wine is very pale with a greenish hue, beautiful aromas of tropical and citrus fruits. The palate is incredibly fresh and zesty, with flavours of orange blossom and apples. The finish has amazing minerality and acid balance. This is exceptional value at $20.00 per bottle as the winery sells it under brand at $35.00 per bottle.

About The Producer
The winery that has produced this magnificent 2018 Limited Release Sauvignon Blanc was founded over 20 years ago in a remarkable setting within the bucolic Coal River Valley. Which is where it remains today. They have established an enviable reputation for producing wonderful Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc wines over the past decade. The vineyard nestles into the north-east facing slopes of the ancient glacial carving that is the Coal River Valley. It sits just 75m above sea level and is cooled by maritime valley breezes while capturing the bright crystalline sun. It enjoys both shelter and exposure. Rainfall is a capricious 500mm per annum, so it is supplemented with irrigation in times of stress.
About the region:
The Coal River Valley wine region is located on about 20-minute drive by car northeast of from Hobart. The region includes the towns of Richmond, Cambridge, Campania and Tea Tree. Most of the vineyards are sited on northeast slopes in the valley to get the most benefit from the sun. Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon blanc are the classic varieties here, but many other varieties are grown. Tasmania’s cool climate serves the Coal River Valley well. Here, the hills offer protection from the prevailing westerly weather systems as well as giving the vineyards a sunny aspect. Most vines are planted on the slopes facing northeast, where they benefit from the region’s long sunlight hours. This is coupled with low rainfall in the growing season, meaning that grapes have extended time on the vine and can utilize the ripening effects of the sun well into autumn. Cooling influences from the Tasman Sea a little way to the south ensure that this ripeness is balanced out by the natural acidity of the grape. A truly magnificent cool climate wine region.
